Sawmill (Unidentified).

Daily production book of an unidentified sawmill producing lath, shingles, pickets, etc. Entries in the volume (p 2-9) for January through April 1885 list the "daily cut" of the sawmill; this is broken down by the type of logs cut and the amount of lumber produced. P 34-35 contain listings of logs and shingle bolts received at the mill January through March 1885.

Reminiscences / Hannah Dorsey

The file consists of a photocopy of the reminiscences of Hannah Dorsey. Mrs. Dorsey was born in North Sidney, N.S., grew up in North Vancouver and Bella Coola, attended Normal School, and taught at Port Simpson, B.C., before accepting a private teaching post in the Chilcotin. She married Lester Dorsey, a Chilcotin rancher and guide in 1934. The reminiscences mainly describe ranch life and work and various pack trips.

The file consists of the memoirs of James A. Pedley, who emigrated from England in 1912, worked on Grand Trunk Pacific construction near Tete Jaune Cache, served overseas, pre-empted land in the Uncha Valley, then joined the B.C. Forest Service, initially at Southbank, in 1927.

Miscellaneous letters relating to Cridge family

The file contains a photocopy of a letter from Mary Cridge to her sister-in-law, Elizabeth, written from the Marquis of Bute ca. 1855 (including a transcript copy); a photocopy of a letter from Harold W.H. Helby to Emily Carr, June 1944, in which he describes being in Victoria as a midshipman in 1882 and visiting the Cridge family and a photocopy of an Archives pioneer form for Bishop Cridge filled out by Maude Cridge.
