The volume includes numerous attachments relating to cases, e.g., notices of payment.

The records include pre-emption applications, 1887-1911 (11 vols.); certificates of pre-emption, 1884-1938 (57 vols.); certificates of purchase, 1874-1944 (95 vols.); registers of sales of unsurveyed lands, 1884-1911 (4 vols.); lot register, City of Vancouver, 1886-1892 (3 vols.) and a register of lot owners, Town of Granville, 1874-1884.

Cariboo Small Debts Court cause books

The series consists of two cause books from the Small Debts Court in Barkerville. The first, in accession 75-G-053, was created between November 1933 and September 1940. This volume also includes proceedings under the Deserted Wives Maintenance Act. The series also includes a Sheriff's record book for the County Court of Cariboo, created between April 1895 and September 1899, listing summonses issued and served in Quesnel, 150 Mile House, Soda Creek, Richfield, Ashcroft Station and Clinton. The second Barkerville cause book, in accession 83-0774, was created between February 1941 and February 1950. It includes receipts issued by the Gold Commissioner’s office at Barkerville.

The series also consists of one ledger created solely by the County Court of Cariboo for small debts cases heard in Quesnel and Williams Lake. The cause book is arranged chronologically, but there is a loose alphabetical index included in the volume. Cases dating from 1921-1923 were heard in Williams Lake, and cases from 1925-1948 were heard in Quesnel. The spine bindings on this volume indicate that the ledger may have originally been in the possession of the the Government Agent of 150 Mile House.

Quesnel Magistrate's record book and daily diary

The series consists of a Magistrate's record book for Quesnel, created between December 1892 and July 1896. The volume continues as Provincial Police (Quesnel) daily diary from August 1896 to May 1915. Back pages include the following: applications for gun licences; constable's account book; police court and gaol inventories; and mining claims, 1912. A second volume is a register of motor-vehicles licences in the Quesnel area, from 1922 to 1924, giving owner's name, description of vehicle, and licence, engine and serial numbers. The volume continues with lists of individuals receiving chauffeur's licences, 1922 to 1924; and the remainder is a daily diary for Provincial Police (Quesnel), from September 1931 to July 1934. The back of the book has a list of motor vehicle registrations for1921.

The series consists of two volumes of minute books created by the Council of North Saanich between 1906 and 1911. Volume 1 covers the period of March 1906 to June 1910 and volume 2 covers June 1910 to December 1911. The volumes contain the minutes of both regular and special meetings and refer to council activities in the North Saanich and Sidney area.

Volume 2 also contains the daily diary of the Provincial Police Dept., Sidney from December 1913 to May 1915.

While the original photographs were removed from the files and accessioned by the visual records unit as 198910-001; photocopies have been retained in the files.

Liquor Control Board inspector files

The series consists of Liquor Control Board inspector files relating to inspections of hotels and other licenced facilities throughout the province. The files were created and maintained by the Liquor Control Board in the Victoria office between 1931 and 1955 and are arranged by file number.

Each file refers to a specific hotel or licenced facility and contains memos, correspondence, inspector reports and follow up reports, names of staff and a list of licence holders. There may also be police reports and other reports concerning licence infractions. Some files have sketches and plans for renovation or expansion and the occasional file may have a photograph.

There are three runs of files: classification prefix 121 for hotels and bars; classification prefix 122 for clubs and classification prefix 123 for Legions. Files 121/1 to 121/114 are missing from the series. In addition there are occasional gaps in the file run, with some files missing completely and others cross referenced to a dead file drawer. The location of the records in the dead file drawer is unknown.
