This series consists of records of the Commission on the 1916 By-Election in Vancouver, 1916-1917. Commission records consist of transcripts of evidence presented at proceedings, exhibits and the commissioners original signed report.

This series contains two operational files from the Vancouver Forest District. The first file, coded MTS X4, is a Timber Management file from 1912-1917. The contents refer to Timber Sale X4 to Young and Scott of Point Grey, B.C. covering lands within the municipality of Point Grey, bounded, in part, by Sixteenth Avenue and the Musqueam Indian Reserve. The second file, which is uncoded, concerns the transfer of records to Victoria from the Supervisor of Scaler's office.

This series contains a plaint and procedure book for cases heard before Judge Henderson, Feb 1902 - Jul 1904. This volume contains the same type of information as other plaint and procedure books, but is in a different format.

They are alphabetical by name of the assignor and include the following information: case number; name of assignor; name of assignee; date instrument registered with the Vancouver court; and the register reference number (volume and page). The register of book accounts assigned are found in GR-1894.

The series consists of six volumes of municipal by-laws registered with the Vancouver County Court; including by-laws from the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, Point Grey, Vancouver, South Vancouver Municipality, Richmond, the District of West Vancouver and the District of Powell River (1955 only).

The series consists of divorce orders and judgements from the Vancouver Supreme Court from 1969 to 1989. They are divided into 3 sub-series: decrees nisi, 1980-1989; decrees absolute, 1969-1977 and 1980-1989; and other divorce orders 1980-1989. For decrees nisi 1969-1975 see GR-3155, for other divorce orders before 1977 see GR-2011 and GR-2012. Decrees and orders issued 1977-1979 for cases opened prior to 1977 no longer exist with the exception of copies of decrees absolute which can be found in GR-3255. Decrees and orders issued 1977-1979 for actions started 1977-1979 can be found in the case files (83-0458-3658 to 3665).

This series contains registers of auction land sales held at Vancouver. Volume 1 contains information from an auction sale that took place November 20-23, 1901. Volume 2 contains information from an auction sale that took place September 29, 1908. The registers include information such as lot number, name of purchaser and sale prices.

This series consists of letters of administration for the Supreme Court of Vancouver from 1893-1989 (form C).

Series consists of Coroners' inquiries conducted in Vancouver for 1938-1965. Records may also include some Vancouver inquisitions/inquests. The series carries on from GR-1323 and is continued in GR-1504 and GR-1726.

This series consists of duplicate auctioneers records for auction sales of Crown land in the New Westminster Land District. Sales include: Hastings townsite District lot 540, 1906; North Vancouver, District Lot 2027 in Group 1, 1906; and in 1908, a further sale of lands in North Vancouver. Information may include date of sale, name and address of highest bidder and amount bid, deposit, and terms of sale. Also included is a copy of the brochure detailing the forthcoming sale and a summary of receipts for the 1906 sale.

The series consists of applications, certificates of appointment, oaths, certificates of dismissal and indexes for Special Constables under the Railway Act filed at the Vancouver Court Registry between 1903 and 1996. Appointments were made by a Vancouver Police Magistrate or a Vancouver Stipendiary Magistrate (or Deputy) or the Chief Commissioner of Police for the Dominion of Canada on the recommendation of member of the Department of Investigation for the railway company. Certificates of dismissal were issued by the Superintendent or an Inspector of the Department of Investigation of the railway company. This collection has records for the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canadian National Railway, the Great Northern Railway and Via Rail Canada.

Selected papers from the following projects: design and building of the Vancouver Court House, alterations to the Victoria Court House, design and building of Government House, Victoria, B.C., and the design and building of the Parliament Buildings, Victoria, B.C. Originals for some papers in this microfilm may be found in GR-0830.

The series consists of records of the Vancouver City Police Force Inquiry. Records include the Commission Secretary's minutes and list of exhibits (1955-1956); a letter to the Attorney-General's office (1955); an unsigned memorandum; the interim report (1955) and the final report (1956) by Commissioner Reginald Hibbert Tupper; and 35 volumes of evidence in transcript form and transcripts of proceedings (1955-1956). Volumes 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the transcripts of evidence were never received by the BC Archives.

This series consists of architectural proposals and consultants reports on topics connected with the construction of public buildings, urban development, siting, traffic patterns, and design requirements. Reports have been created for the Department of Public Works by various sources, including Arthur Erikson Architects, The Environmental Analysis Group (TEAG), UBC School of Architecture, BCIT, Vancouver City Planning Department, and other various architects and engineers.

This series consists of police charge books containing name of prisoner, date of charge, offence, disposition of case and remarks. Volumes 2-4 are titled Provincial Lock-Up, Vancouver, B.C. There is also one index book titled "Vancouver office lockup calendar minute book " created by the Vancouver Provincial Police.

The series consists of a record book created by the Vancouver Immigration Dept. in 1903. Between 1900 and 1908, British Columbia passed nine acts which empowered officials to require prospective immigrants to pass a written test in any language of Europe prior to admission. Of the nine acts, eight were disallowed by the federal government and one (1907) was reserved by the Lieutenant-Governor.

The book records the names and passport numbers of Japanese passengers coming into the Port of Vancouver, the date of arrival, the name of the ship, where the passenger was from, and whether or not they were allowed to pass into Canada.

The series consists of selected Family Court case files created by the Vancouver Provincial Court and its predecessor, the Vancouver Family Court, between 1942 and 1972.

The sample files were chosen by the Court and consist of case files created under the following acts:

Box 3 : Protection of Children Act
Box 4: Wives and Children's Maintenance Act

Although the files are identified by name, there is no discernible arrangement or file code system for the sampled files.

This series consists of indexes from 1893 to 1994 for Vancouver Supreme Court civil cause books and case record cards found within GR-1608 (1893-1975, 1986-1994). Indexes were created by the Vancouver Supreme Court registry.

Over time, index entries vary and may be searchable by type of case, by only the name of the plaintiff, or by either the name of the plaintiff or the defendant. Records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51400-25.
