Photograph depicts an exquisite uniform worn by officers of the 50th Gordon Highlanders. It includes a scarlet doublet with buff facings, leather cross and waist belts, gold buttons, glengarry with feather, tartan plaid, sporran with black tassels, hose and spatz. Officers bought their own full dress uniforms, Highland ones being some of the most expensive designs.

This pair can be seen again in the image J-02018. In the second picture, a soldier from the 50th Regiment (Gordon Highlanders of Canada) poses at the camp. He has identifying badges on his glengarry cap, lapels and sporran. This soldier is pictured again in image J-02017.

The two drummers in the second picture are from the same regiment but their style of uniform is slightly different as they are bandsmen.
