Letters probate.

The series consists of the records of the Advisor on Forest Resources created between 1954 and 1960. The series includes 18 volumes of transcripts of the Royal Commission on Forestry, projects 1-4, held by the Commissioner and Advisor on Forest Resources, Gordon McGregor Sloan in 1958 and concluded by Commission C.W. Morrow in 1959. The series contains a further 22 boxes of records created by the Advisor including exhibits acquired during the Commission hearings, reports by the Commissioners, bench books, correspondence, subject files and clippings.
In February 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Chilliwack concerning a proposal to establish a public working circle (sustained yield unit) in the Fraser Canyon region. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 1.

In May 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Chilliwack concerning a proposal to establish a marketing area in the Fraser Canyon sustained yield unit. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 2.

In June 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning competitive bidding of tree farm licences. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 3.

In October 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning the tree farm licence of Empire Mills Limited. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 4.

Project 4 was halted in November 1958 due to Sloan's ill health and he died in 1959. On July 27, 1959, Judge C.W. Morrow was appointed Commissioner under the "Public Inquiries Act" to complete the work of project 4. Morrow commenced hearings in September 1959 and produced his report on December 31, 1959.

The series consists of civil orders created by the Chilliwack Supreme Court between 1916 and 1946 and 1949 to 1992. The series also consists of a subseries of early reasons for judgement, dating to the 1930s and 1940s. In many cases, these were interfiled with the civil orders. Early civil orders contain adoption information, although later orders appear to have been removed. The series includes divorce records, including decrees nisi and absolute. Reasons for judgement provide the rationale behind a court’s decision, and civil orders are a formal expression of the court’s will.

Records in this series are arranged by volume and folio number. Many of the records were originally housed in shannon folders, and have been rehoused for preservation purposes. When the records were received by the Archives, the volumes were out of order. As it would have been too difficult to re-order the files at the time, they have been left in the received physical order but the file list is arranged by volume number. The records in this series were selected for full retention under the Court Services ORCS (Schedule 100152) number 51400-25.

Scenes of workers' camp, nurse, community newspaper, kid's playground. Hops unloaded at processing plant. Hop-curing sheds. Dairy barn. Tobacco-drying sheds at Sumas. Tobacco harvesting, curing. Travelogue. The Fraser Valley from White Rock to Hope, via Vancouver and the Trans-Canada Highway. Includes footage of: King George VI Highway; White Rock; Peace Arch Park; Canada customs inspection; dairy, poultry and vegetable farming; brickmaking; Stave falls power plant; the Fraser Valley Union Library; Chilliwack Cherry Carnival Parade; Chilliwack Air Show; fishing on Vedder River; Harrison Lake resort; etc. Also shows use of an Avro Anson (registration CF-EKM) to transport live baby chicks by air, and use of a Republic Seabee seaplane to fly in to Chilliwack Lake for an afternoon's fishing.

The fonds consists of recordings of advertisements and programs on radio station CHWK Chilliwack, as well as reminiscences by two early station employees and a 1982 broadcast remembering the 1948 Fraser River flood.

SUMMARY: Reporter Paul Houle narrates this 1982 CHWK radio news feature on the 1948 Fraser River flood. Speakers are: former CHWK program director Murdo Maclachlan; former Chilliwack township mayor Bill Simpson; Chilliwack teacher Carl Wilson; Colonel D'Arcy Baldwin of Camp Chilliwack; and Chilliwack resident Margaret Hepburn.

The series is a record book of Military Exemption Tribunal, no. 51, Chilliwack from 1917 to 1918. Justinian Pelly, Stipendiary Magistrate, sat on the Tribunal which ruled on applications for exemption from military service.

Police information book, September 1913 - April 1921. In black ink, the time of day, date, name, residence, charge, name of witness, name of police officer and case number are given. In red ink there is often an I.B. (Indian Band) number and the outcome.

Civil case files, 4/1939; 1/1942 - 46/1949 with the exception of probate, divorce and adoption files which have been removed from this series and are filed separately.

Criminal case files: 28/47 Rex v. Gus M. Sandwick and 29/47 Rex v. Oliver Lindstrom.

Police Magistrate P.H. Wilson's record books for Chilliwack Township, 1916-1938 and for the City of Chilliwack, 1918-1954. The 1924-1925 volume also serves as a notebook for cases heard by an Indian Agent.
