The album contains views taken between 1866 and 1867, and includes photographs of Esquimalt, Victoria, and other places on Vancouver Island; and scenes in the interior. Also includes several photographs of paintings by Peter Taft. There are a large number of images relating to the Royal Navy in British Columbia. and a selection of photographs of First Nations individuals.

This type of album was usually made to order by Dally in his photographic studio from a selection of prints chosen by the purchaser.
