Part of Boyd family fonds
The series includes personal correspondence of John Boyd (some of which documents his life in California), business records, including correspondence with Heath, and Boyd family papers, including school certificates and letters written home by the Boyd children when they were away at school.
The records consist primarily of John Boyd's correspondence and business papers and contains a mix of letters relating to mining operations in California and British Columbia, trading goods, supplies and labour for the farms, ranches and roadhouses, and other business matters. The records show the wide range of his interests, from real estate investment to mining. The large number of bills and receipts show the variety of both his merchandise dealing and the supplies and services required by his family and roadhouses. These files also contain personal letters from friends in San Francisco, Timbuctoo (California), San Juan Island, and the Cariboo.
The series also includes family correspondence, letters home from children at school in Victoria and New Westminster and from other relatives. Five of his children are represented in separate files.
