The item consists of one album of approximately 150 photographs depicting landscapes, architecture, and people in Malta, South Africa (Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope, Table Bay, and Simon’s Bay), Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Victoria), and British Columbia (Hope, Yale, and the Fraser River). Photographs of British Columbia taken by Francis George Claudet.

All photographs have been captioned by the album creator. A paper bookplate has been adhered to the inside front cover depicting a heraldic badge containing the motto “forte scutum salus ducum” ("A Strong Shield is the Salvation of Leaders”, the motto of the Earl Fortescue peerage) with the name “Carlingford” beneath. It is probable that the album was created by or for Hugh Fortescue (16 April 1854-29 October 1932), the 4th Earl Fortescue.

Series contains a variety of official documents in regards to the governing of the west coast, documents regarding official governing appointments for James Douglas, an address on the occasion of Douglas' retirement, a certificate commemorating Douglas' retirement, a condolences letter for Lady Douglas after James Douglas’ death, bound private notebooks, records of financial transactions, and several journals.

This series consists of various financial records created by the Lytton Government Agent and related government employees from 1858-1900. The records include account books, cash books, records of licences, lists of lots, receipts, a list of prisoners and charge book for the Lytton gaol, road tolls collected at Lytton, a store ledger, waste books and collectorate books. Collectorate books record the collection of various fees by the government agent. Such as trade licences, liquor licences, marriage licences, pre-emption records, water records, mining records, fines, deposits and rent. There are also handwritten notes and invoices created by the Government Agent for the Hope-Yale-Lytton District.

This series consists of land records from the Colony of British Columbia Lands and Works Department, 1858-1863. Most records are related to the sale of town lots at Langley, 1858-1859, and New Westminster, 1860-1862, including records of exchanges of lots at Langley for lots at New Westminster. The series also include various other land records related to New Westminster, Douglas, Hope, Yale, Lytton and Lillooet, including pre-emptions, lot registers, accounts for sales of town and suburban lots, and lists of deeds issued.

This series consists of Colony of British Columbia Department of Lands and Works records, 1858-1863. Records include receipts for payments for lots and some correspondence regarding sales of land in Queensborough, Yale, and Hope.

This series consists of records related to the postal service operated in the colony of British Columbia, from 1858-1871. The records were created at post offices around BC, including Fort Yale, Lillooet, Hope, Lytton, William Creek, as well as the Postmaster General office in New Westminster. There is also one book from the Victoria post office.

Most records document the movement of mail between the Cariboo district and New Westminster along the Fraser River. Most of the volumes record the arrival, departure and destination of letters or parcels. There are also various financial account books tracking sale the of stamps and expenses. The records are arranged chronologically.

Anderson was a miner and manager of the Rail Road House Hotel in Yale which he co-owned with Arthur Churton, Victoria soap manufacturer. Unit contains correspondence from Churton re the hotel, various accounts, receipts, contracts and agreements, pockets notebooks as well as notes and recipes re soap manufacture. Also includes Free Miner's certificates, assay report (1864, Rising Sun Company).

The item consists of a photograph album that belonged to B.W. Pearse. The front page is inscribed "B.W. Pearse, Fernwood, Victoria, British Columbia, 1860.” The album contains 55 b&w photographs collected by Pearse that primarily depict Yale, the Fraser River, areas around the Thompson River, and views of Victoria. Several of the photographs are by Frederick Dally. Pages are numbered and nearly every photograph has a caption.

This series consists of one volume of a Colony of British Columbia Supreme Court of Civil Justice record book of cases heard at Yale, Lytton, Lillooet, Quesnel Forks, Antler Creek, Beaver Lake, Hope, Douglas, and New Westminster, from 1861-1863.

Two record books containing brand registers for Kamloops and Clinton districts 1873-1914, as well as water records for Clinton district 1877-1879. The Kamloops volume also includes collectorate records from the Gold Commissioner at Yale for 1861. The index for the Clinton volume is in GR-1487, box 2, file 1. Also included are 6 volumes of office diaries, 1948, 1951-1953, 1955-1956, used by Thomas Moore, Recorder of brands.

Robert Burns McMicking was a manager for the Victoria and Esquimalt Telephone Company (later part of the British Columbia Telephone Company) and an electrician for the City of Victoria. He was married to Margaret (Leighton) McMicking.

Records include six volumes of letterbook correspondence outward, 1871-1895 and 1905-1910, relating to the telephone, telegraph and lighting system and the electrical business in Victoria. Also included are diaries from 1862-1863 and 1877 relating to life in Yale; notes for lectures on topics relating to electricity and physics; marriage certificate, 1899; documents relating to Commission as Justice of the Peace, 1899; papers relating to McMicking family history and a scrapbook of clippings relating to electrical and telephone business.

The series consists of assorted pieces of correspondence, notes and petitions created between 1864 and 1890 in the Yale, Lytton, and Spences Bridge areas of British Columbia. The records appear to have been accrued by different government agents and Assistant Commissioners of Lands and Works, including W.C. Berkeley, W. Teague, F.S. Hussey, and A. T. Bushby. The records deal with a variety of issues, but are mainly centered around land and mining rights, including applications for the pre-emption of land. The series also includes some letters that appear to be personal in nature, as well as some records tangentially relating to police or court business, including letters addressed to the Magistrate of Yale Lytton District. The majority of the records in this series date from the early 1870s and are addressed to the government agent, a position which evolved due to the expanding responsibilities of the early gold commissioners.

In 2004, many of the records relating to court business were removed from accession G80-076 and placed in GR-2414. The direct relationship between these two sets of records is unclear, and records in GR-2414 were placed in folders based on the year of the record, with the result that the context of the records has been lost.
