This series contains a Mining Records Register Book. This volume is a register of various land grants, mineral claims, mining records, and water rights. Included are a record book of all claims and water privileges recorded in the Leech and Sooke River districts commenced December 1864 (1864-1878), and a register of all mining records and mineral claims recorded at Victoria, B.C., by the Chief Gold Commissioner, 1873-1911. Areas covered include the Queen Charlotte Islands, Cassiar district, and portions of Vancouver Island and the adjacent coast of British Columbia. Also included in this volume are the following items relating to the Royal Engineers in British Columbia: (1) List of men of Royal Engineers who purchased their discharge in British Columbia or Vancouver Island on the return of the North American Boundary Commission to England, 26 Sept. 1863. (2) Schedule of Crown Grants issued to Royal Engineers who served in the Colony of British Columbia under Colonel Moody.

The series consists of records created by the Department of Lands between 1873 and 1923. It contains 14 Coast Land District, Range 5 lot registers covering lots 1-7008. The registers list lots in numerical order and record the alienation of land from the Crown (by purchaser, pre-emption, lease, etc.). Information may include the name of the purchaser, dates and numbers of certificates issued (including Crown Grants), dates and amounts of payments, and reference numbers to correspondence files and field books.

This series includes a report by R.E. Sproule on Kootenay mines (1882), a petition for bridge over Thompson River at Penny's Crossing (1884), a petition for a mining recorder at Kaslo (1894), correspondence regarding the return of Goose Spit, Comox, from the Admiralty (1906), and mss. voters' list for Skeena district (1907).

This series contains minutes from the Executive Council meetings. Records of interest in this series include minutes "relative to the Indian troubles on the Skeena River," from 1888.; dispatches, reports, and correspondence concerning the relocation of Songhees Indian reserve, 1893-1896. The series also includes a copy of the Report on British Columbia for Royal Colonial Institute (for use in British elementary schools), 1884.

The series consists of records created by the Skeena Gold Commissioner between 1897 and 1934. It includes correspondence transferred from the Gold Commissioner for the Province of British Columbia to the Mining Recorder, Port Simpson; register of mineral claims and certificates of work. It also includes 103 volumes of counterfoil books-Mineral Act.

This series consists of three volumes of records of the Water Commissioner, Omineca District, relating to water rights. Volume 1 is a record of Water Grants pursuant to the Water Clauses Consolidation Act (1897), 1898-1905, including determinations by the Board of Investigation, 1917. Volume 2 is a record of Water Grant pursuant to the Water Clauses Consolidation Act (1897), 1909-1917, including determinations by the Board of Investigation, 1917. Volume 3 is Water Record Book No. 1, from 24 June 1898, recorded at the Gold Commissioner's office, Omineca District, including correspondence relating to water rights claims, 1915 and 1917.

It includes transactions for Free Miner's certificates, mining receipts, trade licences, game licences, hotel licences, packers licences, retail liquor licences and Provincial Revenue Tax. This series includes applications to purchase and lease lands in the Bulkley Valley, Skeena district. Includes affidavits and a list of applicants indicating lot numbers, acreage, and purchase price.

Register and index to Bills of Sale and Chattel Mortgages. Volume 1, the register, Nos. 1-3773, 1908-1954, is arranged chronologically and shows the names, place of residence, occupation, date of registration renewal and satisfaction as well as the nature of instrument (Bill of Sale, Chattel Mortgage, or Assignment). Inside the front cover is a sample of the authority for Chattel Mortgages and Bills of Sale. Volume 2 is the index to volume 1, arranged alphabetically. Case files from 1909-1921, to which these volumes apply are found in GR-2518.

Certified copies of "certain Bills of Sale, Chattel Mortgages, Conditional Sales Notes and Assignment of Book Debts, which were registered in the County Court office here [Prince Rupert] prior to the time that the Smithers Registry was segregated from this Registry..." These copies were made and transferred to Smithers in 1925. An index to these files is found in GR-2583.

The series consists of orders issued by the Prince Rupert Supreme Court from 1911 to 1917. An order is the document, filed in the court registry, which sets out the decision of the judge or master.

The series consists of records created by the Department of Lands between 1911 and 1912. It contains two volumes of Coast Land District, Range 5 certificates of sale for South Hazelton. The lots were subdivided from District Lot 851 and are arranged by sale randomly within each volume. Information may include date of sale, name and address of highest bidder and amount bid, deposit, and terms of sale. Also included is a summary of lots within Blocks 1-98, dated Dec. 6, 1912. No index is available.

The series is a small debts cause book, from the Hazelton court January 1912 to May 1918.

This report to the Forest Branch of the Dept. of Lands, is part of a series of initial surveys of forest-land, a programme commenced by the Branch in 1912. Bonney's report covers parts of the Nass and Skeena watersheds and was completed at a cost of 43.58 cents per square mile. As well as reporting on standing timber and forest industry potential, Bonney includes forestry problems, agriculture, sail studies, fishing, mineral resources, geology, topography, water power, communications and climate. Notes are included on methodology and impressions of Indians and white settlers . An index and a map of the project area will be found at the start of the reel.
