Item consists of one bound sketchbook containing watercolours, sketches, and one photograph. The majority of the works have printed titles. The subject matter consists primarily of coastal and ocean scenes in British Columbia and abroad (primarily Rio de Janeiro).

Varied Thrush? (Painted Robin)

The item is a painting of a grey bird sitting amongst some vegetation. The painting was done by Hilda Vincent Foster, possibly in the 1930s The painting has been incorrectly titled as Varied Thrush? (Painted Robin), but the bird has been correctly identified as a Red-Breasted Nuthatch by the Natural History curators at the Royal BC Museum.

Flicker(?)

The item is a painting of a grey bird with its wings outstretched while sitting amongst some flowers. The painting was done by Hilda Vincent Foster. On the back of the painting is written Flicker(?), but the bird has been correctly identified by Natural History curators at the Royal BC Museum as a Northern Flicker.

Grosbeak(?)

The item is a painting of a bird sitting amongst some branches. The painting was done by Hilda Vincent Foster, possibly in the 1930s. The painting has been incorrectly titled as a Grosbeak by Winifred Williams. Also on the back of the painting is a note written on December 7, 1993 stating that Florence Dickson said this was a Sparrow Hawk or Kestrel. It has been correctly identified as an American Kestrel by Natural History curators at the Royal BC Museum.

The location of the painting is that of Mill Bay, Vancouver Island. The artwork was painted by Hilda Vincent Foster some time in the 1940s. The writing on the back of the painting is not that of the artist.

Janet Menzies, Wife of Archibald Menzies

Item consists of a miniature portrait of Janet Menzies on ivory by miniaturist, Thomas Richmond (British, 1771–1837). The painting sits within a gold painted frame, covered by glass, set into what was formerly a clasped box. The top portion of the container has been lost. The bottom of the container is red leather with the remnant of the hinge to the left of the frame.
