This series consists of three volumes of records from the Commission on the Capture of Salmon in the Sooke Area and Purse-Seines in the Gulf of Georgia, 1939. Records include correspondence, draft report, exhibits and transcripts of evidence taken at hearings (pp. 1-252, 341-1953).

This series consists of records of the Canadian government's Commission on Protests of the Okanagan and Upper Nicola Indian Bands, 1954. The commission investigated protests against the inclusion or omission of certain people from membership in the bands. Records include a report of Commissioner C.W. Morrow.

Colonial Office "secret" supplementary correspondence

This series contains extracts from volumes in C.O. 537 series [supplementary correspondence]. The records consist mainly of despatches to and from the Secretary of State for the Colonies and the Governor-General of Canada and senior British military officers. The majority of the records were originally classified as "Secret" or "Confidential." Records pertain to all parts of Canada, but include substantial British Columbia-related material. San Juan Island dispute, B.C.'s entry into Confederation, trans-Pacific steamship services, coastal defence, and the Bering Sea sealing negotiations are but some of the issues documented in this series.

Colonial Office correspondence with regard to British Columbia

This series contains original correspondence (C.O.60/1 - C.O. 60/44), consisting of despatches (despatches from the Governor of British Columbia to the Colonial Secretary, correspondence and minutes arising from the despatches, and draft despatches from the Colonial Secretary) as well as miscellaneous letters to the Colonial Secretary from other departments of the British Government and from individuals on matters relating to British Columbia. Reel 1453 contains some pages which were not filmed at the time of the original filming.

Vancouver Island: Entry Books of Correspondence, 1849-1867, (C.O. 410, vols. 1-2). This unit consists of letter-book copies of despatches from the Secretary of State for the Colonies (i.e. the Colonial .Secretary) to the governors of Vancouver Island. Subject indexes appear at the end of the volumes. Original duplicate copies of these records are catalogued as C/AA/10.2/1. Other copies, but of inferior quality, may be found on microfilm reel B00004 (1).

Colonial Office correspondence outward to British Columbia

British Columbia: Entry Books of Correspondence, 1 July 1858 - 11 August 1871 (C.O. 398, Vols. 1 - 7). Unit consists of letter-book copies of despatches to the governors of British Columbia from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, along with copies of letters from the Colonial Secretary to other departments of the British Government and to individuals, on matters relating to British Columbia. Indexes to correspondence appear at the end of each volume. A series of duplicate original despatches (hardcopy) is catalogued as C/AB/10.2/1. This series of duplicate original despatches often includes copies of enclosures, which are absent from letter-books which comprise this unit.

Central registry of the Immigration Branch

This series contains the Central Registry of the Immigration Branch of the Dept. of the Interior. These records (classified in the Public Archives of Canada as RG 76 Series 1) include deputy ministers' files, personnel dockets, and the operational records of federal government immigration agencies in Canada, the United States, Great Britain, and Continental Europe. Several files deal with Asian immigration and Doukhobor settlements in British Columbia. Also included are Registers of Chinese immigration at Port of New Westminster, 1887-1908 (RG 76 Series II) and headquarters registers of Chinese immigrants and residents, 1885-1903 (RG 76 series VI).

Canadian hydrographic charts

The series consists of published charts produced by the Canadian Hydrographic Service between 1909 and 1990.
The charts are listed according to chart number. Multiple editions of a chart are listed chronologically according to date of edition or latest correction.
Researchers are directed first to identify the chart numbers of the desired charts using one of the Index sheets described at the beginning of the chart list, and then to use the list to identify the call numbers for the desired charts. The charts have been copied onto 105mm negatives, which are arranged in call number order in the Archives Reference Room.

Researchers seeking information on the Canadian Hydrographic Service are advised to consult: Stanley Fillmore and R.W. Sandilands. The Chartmakers: A History of Nautical Surveying in Canada (Maps NW 526.99 F487).

The reels also contain Registers for various ports in Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes, and for Aklavik in the N.W.T. Among details to be found are where and when the ship was built, owners, builders, number of decks, masts, details of rigging, etc., length, breadth, tonnage, details of engines, transactions relating to ownership and reason for being taken off registry. Central Registry records: index and correspondence registers, 1883-1915, 5 vols. (National Archives of Canada, RG 23/B/1/b). These five volumes are a set of contemporary indexes to GR-2908, Dept. of Marine and Fisheries, Central Registry Records. Volumes 1-3 contain entries arranged by name, volume 4, entries arranged by locality, and volume 5, entries arranged by subject. These volumes should be used in conjunction with the finding aid to GR-2908 which is a reel list of files relating to British Columbia.

The series consists of photocopies of records originally created by the Federal Commission on the Salmon Fishing Industry in British Columbia, 1902. It contains copies of unprinted reports from 1902 to 1908 to the Minister of Marine of Fisheries and record of proceedings of sittings to gather evidence.
