This series consists of police court record books from Williams Lake, covering 1947-1969.

The following information is given for criminal cases: case number; name of defendant; name of solicitor; nature of the charge; and date.

Record book of grants of water rights pursuant to the Mining Act (1896), issued in 1897. Many grants carry notes of cancellation by the Board of Investigation, dated 1918. Includes a nominal index.

The fonds consists of records created and acquired by W. Kimball Nichols between 1922 and 1967. The records include records created by his father, W.K. Nichols and consist of contracts, correspondence and reports from 1922 to 1929 of the Eagle Lake Spruce Mills Ltd. in Giscome BC. There is also a photograph showing a forest fire at Giscome BC ca. 1928. This company was managed by W.K. Nichols. The fonds also includes financial records of Beaver Pass Gold Placers of Wells, BC from 1951 to 1967. This gold mine was owned and operated by W. Kimball Nichols and W.E. North.

The fonds consists of an account book of the Vulcan Company.

This series contains a time book for wages and hours for Improvement Project 8, Mount Begbie Lookout.

This series contains an inventory of the mature and immature timber on Crown Land within the confines of the Trans-Mountain Oil Pipe Line Company right-of-way prepared by C.D. Schultz and Co. for Canadian Bechtel Ltd. and submitted to the District Forester, Fort George. Internal evidence suggests that there were originally at least nine more folios to this report.

This series contains an inventory of merchantable and immature timber on Crown Land within the confines of the West Coast Transmission Co. Ltd. gas pipeline right-of-way by C.D. Schultz and Co. for Canadian Bechtel Ltd. submitted to the District Forester, Prince George.

The series consists of Forest Branch records created between 1912 and 1914. The series contains timber cruiser reports by W.J. Kelly on diverse tracts, including holdings of the Lillooet and Cariboo Land Company, Ltd. Reports include numerous photographs and maps.

The series consists of one volume of the Supreme Court criminal case calendar. The records typically provide the name of the prisoner(s), the court date, name of the judge, plea, verdict, sentence and date of verdict and sentencing.

The fonds consists of records created by the St. Lawrence Gold and Silver Mining Company in 1878 and includes articles of incorporation, bylaws, minutes and a share certificate book.

The series consists of one ledger that includes both advance and refund information as well as balances from the Barkerville Small Debts Court. The first ten pages of the ledger appear to have been used by the Government Agent in Barkerville, and provide information on cash advances and refunds from 1941 to 1948. Many of the advances were made to police constables, and included in the ledger are several “Authority for Cash Advance” forms addressed to the Government Agent at Barkerville and signed by Sergeant T. R. Baker, who may have been provincial police sergeant Thomas Raymond Baker.

The second half of the ledger includes a list of receipts and disbursements for the Small Debts Court, presumed to be at Barkerville.

The fonds consists of debit and payroll vouchers and statements of the Incorporated Exploration Company of British Columbia and the Slough Creek Company.

This series consists of three volumes of Richfield Magistrate's record books. Volumes are a charge and sentence book, 1862-1874; charge and sentence book, 1974-1978, containing licencing records kept by the court registry, 1878-1907; and a notebook, 1887-1914, recording Magistrate's court cases at Richfield, Small Debts Court cases at Richfield and some cases at Soda Creek and Quesnel.

This series contains letters inward to John Bowron, Government Agent and Gold Commissioner, Richfield, 6 June 1892 - 30 September 1894, 2 vols. Each volume contains a nominal list of correspondents.

The series consists of a report and a tour outline prepared for the Parks Branch by Virginia Careless in 1978:
"Report on interim research project: Socio-Cultural Aspects B.C. Roadhouses" and "Outline for Tour of Cottonwood House".

This series contains registers of brands (for both cattle and horses) kept by district recording offices prior to 1914. Registers pertain to brands registered in Cariboo, Similkameen, Okanagan, and Nanaimo districts. This series may be used in conjunction with other district brands registers (GR-0409 - GR-0412) and with post-1914 brands registers (GR-1488). A regulated system of branding or marking livestock in British Columbia began with the Cattle Ordinance of 1869 (32 Vic., No. 114) which established a procedure whereby cattle brands and other distinctive markings could be registered with district magistrates for a fee of 25¢. The system developed further with the Cattle Marking Act, 1875 (BCS 38 Vic. c.14) which defined "cattle" to include "horses, mares, fillies, foals, geldings, colts, bulls, bullocks, cows, heifers, steers, calves, sheep, hogs, mules and asses." Recording officers were appointed by cabinet for each electoral district and were authorized to keep a register of brands and markings; local justices of the peace were empowered to ensure that brands were not duplicated, obliterated, or defaced and penalties were set for infractions. In 1881 the registration fee was raised to 50 ¢ (Cattle Brands Act, 44 Vic. c.4) and in 1888 provisions were made for regional cattle districts, whose boundaries were not necessarily identical to those of electoral districts. A distinction was also made in 1888 between the Mainland and Vancouver Island: in Mainland districts, brands were to be registered by an "authorized recording officer" usually the local Government Agent while on the Island brands were to be recorded by district magistrates. These distinctions were abolished in 1894 by the Cattle Act Amendment Act which confirmed Government Agents as "authorized recording officers" throughout the province. The procedure of registering brands was streamlined and centralized by the Brand Act of 1914 (4 Geo. 5 c.9). With this act, provision was made for a Recorder of Brands (responsible to the Minister of Agriculture) and a three man Board of Brand Commissioners. After 1 July 1914 all applications for brand registers or transfers were made through the Recorder's office in Victoria. The fee for brand registration was increased to $1.00 and henceforth all brands were to be renewed annually at a cost of 50 ¢. GR 1487 consists of brands registers and indexes kept prior to 1914. In most cases, the registers show the name and address of brand owners, the date and certificate number of the brand registration, and a description of registered brands and markings. Registers pertain to both cattle and horses. Since the districts covered by the registers were not rigidly defined, researchers may have to consult more than one volume to locate specific brands or brand owners. This series may be used in conjunction with GR 0409 GR 0412 (Registers for Cariboo, Lillooet, and New Westminster, 18701913) and with GR 1488 (post1914 brands registers and indexes).
