These two items are two parts of a limited series published by Fisheries and Marine Service, Environment Canada, that brings awareness to environmental concerns and protections for Canada's wild salmon. The book covers the salmon's lifecycle, differences between species, the historical and enduring relationship Indigenous peoples have to salmon, and a plea to protect salmon from overfishing and salmon habitats to ensure abundant salmon into the future. It features photographs of salmon, their lifecycle, methods of salmon fishing, and Indigenous fishing and processes.

The portfolio of artworks (PDP03343 - PDP03365) includes four sets of prints illustrating themes in the book: Pacific Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, the Legacy stewarded by Indigenous peoples, and the Cycle of life. For the Legacy, Haida artist Bill Reid produced six crest-based screen prints, including a salmon, and anthropologist Hilary Stewart created an accompanying narrative with her own illustrations. Pacific Salmon are illustrated by David Denbigh, an employ of Fisheries and the publication's organizer. The prints of Atlantic Salmon are reproductions from late 19th century naturalist illustrations. The Cycle includes four reproductions of Rudi Kovach's watercolours and two reproductions of artworks by Denbigh.

Series consists of office files of the Deputy Minister of Deregulation, created 1975-1981. Records were created through the office of George Giles during his appointment as Deputy Minister. Records in this series created prior to the creation of the Ministry of Deregulation in 1978 predominantly document the activities of the Standards Advisory Board, of which Giles served as chairman. During this time, Giles was appointed as Associate Deputy Minister, Culture and Heritage for the Ministry of Recreation and Conservation; and the Deputy Minister of Public Works.

Records include correspondence, reports, newsletters, meeting materials, copies of legislation, news releases, speeches, clipping, and other administrative material.

This item is a lithographic print based on a late 19th century engraving by J. Stewart, which in turn reproduced a watercolour by John Miller.

Series consists of photographs created or acquired by the Resource Management Branch of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and its predecessor bodies, between 1929 and 1991. Most of the photographs are glued onto pages that formed an appendix to an inspection report. These appendices were separated from the reports and stored separately. The original reports may still be with the Ministry. Researchers should also compare them to the Ministry of Mines annual reports. In addition to the appendices, which often include captions and other accompanying material, the files contain hundreds of loose photographs, including prints, negatives, slides and polaroids in both colour and black and white. The photographs are of mines throughout British Columbia and include aerial views, mine rescue teams, machinery and equipment, reclamation work, bridges and roads and dangerous occurrences and accidents. The series also includes portions of the inspection reports and other accompanying textual information.
