This series contains the records of the Gold Commissioner, Government Agent, and Assistant Land Commissioner, Cariboo District (Quesnel). The records consist of lot registers, certificates of purchase, certificates of pre-emption, registers of pre-emptions (canceled and allowed), registers of land applications and lands purchased, register of leaves of absence granted pre-emption on active service, minute books containing lot register of lands along the route of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, and registers of hay and pasture land leases. The series also includes townsite registers for Quesnel, Barkerville, and Wells and lot registers for some townships in the Peace River Block. Volumes 89-98 and 153-158 are oversize.

The series contains records relating to mining leases (3 vols.). Volumes 1 and 2 are entitled Records of Mining, Leases and are registers of leases issued. They are arranged by Mining District. Included are entries for lease number, date and description of the lease, name of lessee, lot and locality of the lease, annual rental and other fees, expenditure requirements, date of assignment and assignee, letter reference numbers and cancellation information. Volume 3 is a record book of applications for mining leases recorded at Victoria, B.C., for the Stikine and Liard Mining Divisions of Cassiar District and Victoria District.

The series consists of loose photographs, a mixture of negatives and prints, taken by Carmichael in the early 1900s. They are of various places including Alberni, Powell River, Haida Gwaii and Peace River and show landscapes, water courses, dams and people as well as mining operations. Several prints may have been removed from an album.
Each image was given an HP (historic photograph) number in the sequence HP001665 to HP001739 and kept as part of the Archives general file (accession 193501-001). Prints, both original and copy, are in the HP original folders while negatives, both original and copy, are filed either by HP number or by negative number, depending on the media (glass, nitrate, acetate etc.).

Series consists of two letters to Richard Wolfenden and one to Madge (Wolfenden) Hamilton, 1904, 1908, 1958, containing reminiscences of early British Columbia by Francis Brook Gregory and John Connell and reminiscences of the family of R.C. Microfilmed copy of journal kept at Fort St. John and Hudson's Hope containing records of trading supplies, company servants, outside traders and casual employees. Data includes quantities and qualities of furs traded together with the values of both the furs and the trade goods. Lists of supplies from Lesser Slave Lake plus costs and logistics of transporting them to the Peace River and the furs out are shown. Later, probably ca. 1927, blank and little used pages have been used for recipes.

Records of mining claims and other material
The series consists of records created by the Sub-Mining Recorder at Fort Grahame between 1909 and 1939. It contains records of claims, applications for certificates of work, powers of attorney, correspondence outward to the Mining Recorder in Smithers and instructions as to the duties of Sub-Mining Recorders. Records may also relate to the Omineca Mining Recorder.

The series consists of a report collected by the Dept. of Agriculture in 1915. The report was written by Agricultural Surveyor W.H. Cartwright and contains information on the physical features, soil conditions and agricultural possibilities of an area just north of the Peace River Block, recorded between April 1913 and October 1914. The report is illustrated with 22 black and white photographs and is accompanied by meteorological readings and some correspondence between Cartwright and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
