This series contains proceedings of the Forest Protection Officers' meetings held at Victoria: 11-13 December, 1962; 24-26 November, 1964 and 6-8 December 1966; Kamloops: 9-11 January 1968; and Victoria: 26-28 February, 1969; 8-10 December, 1970; 28-30 November, 1972 and 3-5 December, 1974. The purpose of these meetings was to improve techniques of the prevention and suppression of forest fires.

This series contains miscellaneous material relating to forest fires and forest protection. Records consist of the fire-control equipment handbook (1946) and the radio handbook (1939) of the United States Forest Service. These manuals and the portable radio and fire-fighting gear were widely used by the B.C. Forest Service. Includes fire fighters' manuals (5 volumes, 1918-1942) prepared by the Western Forestry and Conservation Association and a catalog of portable fire fighting pumpers (1939).

This project was established in 1981 to do research in preparation for the 75th anniversary of the Forest Service in 1987 and to facilitate transfer of archival records to the Provincial Archives. (3) Early history of the B.C. Forest Service, by D. Climenhaga. (4) Forest protection a government responsibility, a draft by Stephen Gray. (5) Protection as conservation - Safeguarding B.C.'s forests from fire, 1874-1921, by John Parmenter.
