Government Street looking South toward James Bay Bridge

The item is a b&w photograph of Government Street, looking South to James Bay bridge, taken from the balcony of the Occidental building at the corner of Government and Fort Streets. The Brown Jug saloon owned by Thomas Golden is on the left. The Government Buildings known as the Birdcages are in the background on the right.

Item is a black and white glass plate negative depicting 22 men standing in front of the legislature building in Victoria, 1882. Based on the date of the photograph and the individuals present they are members of the fourth parliament of British Columbia on the back porch of the Provincial Secretary's Office of the old, "birdcage", legislature buildings.
