Western radio drama : ASCRT conference panel

The item consists of copies of audio recordings from a panel discussion on radio drama in western Canada, from the 1979 conference of the Association for the Study of Canadian Radio and Television, held at the University of Saskatchewan. The panel members are: playwright Gwen Pharis Ringwood, who discusses writing radio drama in the 1930s and 1940s; critic and radio documentary producer Alan Yates, who discusses the series "Jake and the Kid", written by W.O. Mitchell for CBC Radio; and former CBC radio producer and Supervisor of Radio Arts Gerald Newman, now a drama professor at SFU, who discusses the theory and practice of radio drama production on tape.
