The series consists of correspondence files created by the Assistant Superintendent of Education between 1965 and 1968. The files deal with a broad range of topics, including teachers' conferences, data processing, school inspectorates and staff meetings.

Images include portraits of staff, images of educational programming and other activities at locations including, but not limited to, Jericho Hill School for the Deaf and Blind, Emily Carr Institute and B.C.I.T.

The records include a minute book of Board meetings (1872-1878), a register of teachers' certificates (1872-1883), correspondence regarding Victoria School Reserve (1875-1876) and diaries of provincial school inspectors John Jessop, R.M. Clemitson, and C.C. McKenzie. McKenzie diary includes list of students [giving names, ages, classes and grades] in provincial schools from 1880-1881. This series contains curriculum circulars containing announcements, changes, directives and rulings from the Division of Curriculum. These circulars were sent to all school principals with instructions that they should be kept on file and made available to all teachers. The circulars from 1949-1955 are indexed and arranged by subject. Removed from GR-1030 (B.C. Home Economics Branch), in 1981.
The series consists of circulars and brochures pertaining to patriotic activities and special events, created by the Dept. of Education, dating mainly from the 1930s. It includes "Instructions to Teachers Regarding the Use of the Flag on School Premises" (1930), "Suggestions for celebrating Good Will Day [18 May 1932] in B.C. schools," commemorative booklet and "Suggestions for Coronation Programmes for the Schools of B.C." (1937). This unit also includes brochures re: the Overseas Education, 1976.
Documents in this collection pertain to both schools and include: Collegiate School (CS) students' register (1892-1929); CS students' roll book (1910-1929); CS Cadet corps orders book (1910-1919); CS scrapbook (1898-1929); and samples of CS hat ribbons and blazer crests. Muskett's personal account book and Qualicum College students' register (1935-1936) also included.

The first box contains ministerial correspondence, progress reports, plus files on Indian education, industrial arts, home economics, and women's studies. Box 2 contains files regarding secondary guidance, English and business education. It also files regarding a Captain Cook study kit from 1978. Box 3 contains files regarding an introduction of core curriculum, 1977. It also includes departmental papers, reports, selected correspondence and "reaction sheets" from teachers, parents, and pupils.

The records deal primarily with the public issues with which Wallace was involved and contain very limited references to party administration and activities.

This officer dealt with night school, summer school, domestic science and manual training, in addition to technical education. The letterbooks of correspondence outward include the Director of Elementary Agricultural Education.
