Includes footage of Vancouver (general), Abbotsford Air Show, Royal Hudson steam train excursion, ferry from Horseshoe Bay, Sechelt, sport fishing, boat trip up Jervis Inlet, salmon fishing derby, Garibaldi Provincial Park (camping, mountain climbing).

Highways to splendor

The item is a composite print of a travelogue film from ca. 1970. It depicts a scenic trip on the "Queen of Prince Rupert" from Kelsey Bay to Prince Rupert introducing such destinations as Vancouver, Victoria and the Cariboo. Includes shots of Active Pass, Barkerville, Campbell River and the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. The Inside Passage and the province's highways are seen as parallel north-south "highways."

Ferry liners north

The item is an answer print of a travelogue, made 196 7 to 1969. It shows a voyage down the Inside Passage from Prince Rupert to Kelsey Bay on the "Queen of Prince Rupert", provides a framework to highlight Barkerville, the Skeena, Alaska, Vancouver Island and Victoria. Includes scenes of the White Pass and Yukon railway. The original elements were probably re-cut to make "Highways to splendor".

The item is a colour master film reel of an instructional film from 1965. It shows the procedure for getting davit-launched life rafts safely into the water. Filmed aboard one of BC Ferry's vessels. A French version was also produced.

The new Columbia

The item is a composite print of an industrial film made between 1965 and 1959. It shows changes along the Columbia River due to the Duncan, Arrow and Mica dams. Includes footage of: Duncan Dam reservoir; area communities; flood scenes; water storage and flood control benefits in BC and the USA; threatened homes and landmarks, including the Gates of St. Leon Hotel and the derelict sternwheeler "Minto"; ecological considerations; construction of the Arrow [Hugh Keenleyside] and Mica dams, and official opening of the former; houses being moved or burned; "Viking funeral" [burning] of the "Minto"; new highway construction and Arrow Lake ferry service (M.V. "Galena"); economic impacts; the relocated communities of New Burton, New Edgewood and New Fauquier.

Includes footage of Creston; swimming and boating on Kootenay Lake; ferry to Balfour; the retired sternwheeler "Moyie"; trout fishing; Kokanee Glacier Park campground; Nelson's annual summer curling bonspiel, pancake breakfast and logging sports day, and the Nelson Summer School of Fine Arts (with shots of painting, weaving, pottery and dance).

The item is a composite print of a travelogue made in 1956-1957. It is a revised version of the film and incorporates footage from the 1941-1942 and 1951 versions, as well as new footage. New footage includes cars coming off the ferry in Victoria's inner harbour; dockside scenes, including a freighter loading; a Trans-Canada Airlines aircraft arriving at Patricia Bay airport; Malahat Summit scenery; marina and fishing scenes; downtown Duncan and local logging operations; the John Hart hydro-electric plant; etc.
