This series contains an appeal book and judgements of the British Columbia Supreme Court in the case of James S. Emerson, timber dealer v. Robert T. Skinner, Provincial Timber Inspector, regarding the seizure of three booms of cedar under the Timber Manufacturing Act, 1906.

This series consists of records of the Commission on Forest Resources (1943-1945). Records consist of transcripts of proceedings of public meetings of the commission, exhibits received, correspondence, arguments, secretary's record book of sittings and subject index to proceedings. A subject index to proceedings was created by the commission and is located in boxes 1 and 2. The finding aid gives a list of exhibits and file list of other records. Immediately following the inquiry, many of the exhibits were transferred to the Forest Service Library and are therefore missing (see box 9, file 1).

This series consists of records of the 1975 Royal Commission on Forest Resources led by Commissioner Peter H. Pearse. Records include exhibits, transcripts of evidence, correspondence, subject files, working papers, financial records and newspaper clippings.

The finding aid provides an alphabetical listing of exhibits (volumes 1-9), a file list of correspondence and subject files (volumes 10-13), and a file list of working papers (volumes 14-16). Volumes 17 and 18 contain newspaper clippings about the activities of the Commission, volume 19 is a Ledger of accounts and volumes 20 to 28 contain the transcripts of evidence taken at public hearings of the commission. An alphabetical index of participants providing the transcript volume number and page numbers of testimony given is included at the end of the finding aid.

To find briefs of particular participants, researchers are advised to search the alphabetical listing of briefs for the appropriate box number. References to the original numbering of briefs done by the Commission no longer have meaning for retrieval purposes.

The series consists of records created by the Royal Commission on Timber and Forestry between 1905 and 1911. The records include transcripts of evidence, written submissions, abstract of evidence, reports, correspondence and other supporting material.

This series consists of Dominion regulations regarding land, water, forests mineral resources, public roads and soldier settlement in the Railway Belt and Peace River Block of British Columbia. Consists of Dominion Orders-in-Council , 1887-1927, arranged chronologically (Box 1) and copies of legislation, published regulations and handbooks, 1922-1930 (Box 2).

The series contains the records of the Forest Practices Code Steering Committee (Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks). The Forest Practices Code was under the joint-administration of the Ministry of Forests, the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks and the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. The Forest Practices Code, which was one part of the Forest Renewal Strategy, sought to enforce forest management practices in British Columbia that would be economically and environmentally sustainable for future generations. It placed new requirements for land use planning, introduced more extensive and stringent forest practice legislation and brought stronger enforcement. Both the Ministry of Forests and the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks had their own steering committee to discuss, plan and implement the Forest Practices Code. There was an additional joint steering committee for all three ministries involved in the project. At the moment, this series only contains the records created and accumulated by the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks for its steering committee, though some files created by other ministries may be included in the records as these would have been distributed to them and discussed.

In addition to meeting minutes and agenda, there are a variety of records related to the development and implementation of the Forest Practices Code by the ministry. This includes some records from smaller sub-committees and groups such as the Technical Subcommittee, the Policy Working Group, the Resource Allocation Committee and the Implementation Team, among others, who were responsible for developing technical and administrative policy, procedures and training. The records document code development, budgets, training, new jobs created and important decisions taken by the committee. Other records include communications (memos, correspondence), organizational structure, briefing notes, memorandum of understanding, monitoring and assessment of implementation strategies, status reports, information needs analysis (for database infrastructure) and treasury board submission to release funds for delivery of the Forest Practices Code.

The records are arranged chronologically into folders. They are classified using ARCS schedule 100001.

The series consists of the records of the Advisor on Forest Resources created between 1954 and 1960. The series includes 18 volumes of transcripts of the Royal Commission on Forestry, projects 1-4, held by the Commissioner and Advisor on Forest Resources, Gordon McGregor Sloan in 1958 and concluded by Commission C.W. Morrow in 1959. The series contains a further 22 boxes of records created by the Advisor including exhibits acquired during the Commission hearings, reports by the Commissioners, bench books, correspondence, subject files and clippings.
In February 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Chilliwack concerning a proposal to establish a public working circle (sustained yield unit) in the Fraser Canyon region. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 1.

In June 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning competitive bidding of tree farm licences. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 3.

In October 1958 Sloan announced public hearings to be held in Victoria concerning the tree farm licence of Empire Mills Limited. This was known as the Royal Commission on Forestry, project 4.

Project 4 was halted in November 1958 due to Sloan's ill health and he died in 1959. On July 27, 1959, Judge C.W. Morrow was appointed Commissioner under the "Public Inquiries Act" to complete the work of project 4. Morrow commenced hearings in September 1959 and produced his report on December 31, 1959.
