The series consists of various indexes and inventories created by the Forest Service to manage their photograph files along with some miscellaneous material, such as their copies of the Oxford classification system used to classify forest photographs. There are also several inventories of Forest Service photographs created by the BC Archives and print copies of some photographs including botanical renderings.

This series contains registers of timber leases and royalties (7 vols.). The series also consists of registers of leaseholds and licences maintained by the Lands and Works Dept., Victoria and the Timber Inspector, Vancouver; journals of timber lease payments in arrears (1891-1910), and a ledger of timber royalty payments (1908-1913). Volume 7 is oversize.

Journal/album (1913) of Grainger's father's visit to Vancouver Island; personal papers including Cambridge memorabilia and letter of recommendation; letters of his aunt and mother re family affairs; letters to his niece, Eve (Grey) Smith, 1928 (copies); letters to acquaintances in England re his travels in B.C. (1928-1931); MSS. of articles; newspaper clippings by and about Grainger; "The Story of Martin Allerdale Grainger" by Basil Cleaver; copy of Woodsmen of the West inscribed "to my wife"; curriculum vitae of R.G. Grey and copy of letter to him from Overton Price. Album belonging to Eve Smith transferred to Visual Records.

This series consists of 117 volumes of special timber licences from 1884-1920. The series also includes one receipt book for the renewal of special timber licences in 1910.

Papers relating to forestry, the Forest Service, Boulton's antiquarian interest and his private museum collection. Includes reports done for the School of Forestry of the University of New Brunswick (1943), a report on forest protection (1962), minutes of the 1969 meeting of the Association of BC Foresters, a poem on the BC Forest Service entitled "Progress...", records of timber sales, a 1931 memorandum of the Chief Forester on the issuance of pencils, and a book in Chinese.

Item consists of one photograph in a card mat of five men in an old growth forest. "C.T. Dunbar's Timber Limits on the Mamquam River, Howe Sound 40 miles from Vancouver, B.C. About 35 square miles. Edwards Bros. Photos." has been captioned on the bottom left of the photograph.

This series contains a three page letter to the Surveyor General, William S. Gore, regarding a logging road in the Vancouver area. Letter/file number 1322/90. Includes sketch map.

The series consists of records created by the Lands Branch between 1890 and 1908. The series contains registers of applications to cut and carry away timber, vols. 1-2, 4-11, (vol. 3 is missing). The registers give letter inward number, application number, copy of notice in Gazette, license number, and location. Each volume contains an index to applicants.

This series contains operational records from the District Forester's office and Ranger Districts 3 (Barriere), 4 (Kamloops) and 22 (Kamloops North) including material relating to grazing, timber management, tree farm licences, fires and forest protection. The files are organized according to the system set out in "Operational Manual with Instructions to Forest Officers", Victoria, 1942. For additional information see: GR-0944, Box 1.

This series consists of the interim report, final report and indexed notes of evidence of the Dominion Crown Timber Commission (British Columbia). Records were created by Commissioner Archer Martin to the Minister of the Interior.

The fonds consists of company business records which relate to the full range of its activities in logging, lumber and shingle production, and marketing of its products. Most of the records concern the plant at Honeymoon Bay, the logging camp at Gordon River, and the facilities and residences built for employees at those locations.

The fonds includes records of predecessor companies (records created prior to the founding of Western Forest Industries Ltd. in 1946). It also consists of records of the companies that had majority ownership of Western Forest Industries Ltd., including Alaska Pine and Cellulose Ltd. and Rayonier Canada (B.C.) Limited, (and the owner of the latter, after 1968, ITT Rayonier Incorporated).

The fonds consists of general office files, in four different series, dating primarily from ca. 1949 to 1981. These records were created by the following departments and offices: the manager, accounting, sales and production co-ordinator, boom department, powerhouse, forestry/engineering, electrical, logging division, mill superintendent, and personnel.

The fonds also consists of technical and architectural drawings, blueprints, maps and plans; these are in two different series: CM/ES4 and MS-1333.K. Most of the maps and plans relate to land, timber holdings, and logging and forestry issues. The technical drawings and blueprints relate to mills and mill equipment, and to buildings and facilities for the worker communities at Honeymoon Bay and Gordon River. Some of the maps, plans and drawings were created by predecessor companies prior to 1946.

The fonds also consists of ca. 900 photographs (colour and black & white), including prints, slides, and negatives. (Many of the latter are undeveloped). The images include the Honeymoon Bay plant, townsite and environs, workers, equipment and logging locations.

G-03161 Lake Cowichan, Climax locomotive No. 10 (1 photograph).

This unit consists of two unrelated parts. Part 1: records of expenditures for the construction of the Westminster-Ladner Waggon (sic) Road, and correspondence regarding the right-of-way for the road and funding arrangements. June 16, 1903 - November 21, 1903. Part 2: list of timber lease holders, showing acreages and effective dates of the leases, ca. 1903.

The series consists of records created by the Royal Commission on Timber and Forestry between 1905 and 1911. The records include transcripts of evidence, written submissions, abstract of evidence, reports, correspondence and other supporting material.

This series contains an appeal book and judgements of the British Columbia Supreme Court in the case of James S. Emerson, timber dealer v. Robert T. Skinner, Provincial Timber Inspector, regarding the seizure of three booms of cedar under the Timber Manufacturing Act, 1906.
