The fonds consists of family and business correspondence, daybooks and business records of Cold Spring and Cottonwood House, two establishments owned by John Boyd and his family.

The series consists of daybooks and cashbooks kept at Cold Spring House and Cottonwood House, 1863 to 1885. Also includes a Wade and Company daybook and several unidentified daybooks.

Also contains daybook entries for John Boyd's Cottonwood House, November 8, 1890 - April 4, 1891.
