The fonds consists of Mildred Valley Thornton's sound recordings documenting the Indigenous music, dance and folklore of the Northwest Coast, recorded between about 1950 and 1954. The fonds also includes some textual material that documents her music recording activities and other interests, from 1947 to 1967. In addition there is a newspaper article from 1971 and family notes on her artwork from 1976.
The file consists of one hardcover folio, which contains 19 loose artworks created by various artists associated with the Island Arts and Crafts Society (IACS). The portfolio is inscribed with the name "Mrs. N.P. Shaw". The portfolio was presented to Ella Gertrude Shaw, nee Lugrin (Mrs. N.P. Shaw) in March 1925 upon her departure from Victoria to Vancouver. Shaw was a founding member of the IACS and exhibited from 1910-1922 at the Society's annual exhibitions.
Fonds consists of the personal and professional records of Ina D. D. Uhthoff and three of her paintings. The records primarily document Uhthoff's relationships with various art galleries, either regarding selling or exhibiting her works. Some of these records were created by other individuals connected to Ina Uhthoff (principally John Uhthoff, son of Ina Uhthoff) and relate to the selling or disposition of her artwork.
