This series contains Minister of Labour John Cates' correspondence relating to the establishment and early operation of the Provincial Advisory Committee on Indian Affairs from 1948 to 1951. The correspondence files also include news clippings, memos, reports and committee minutes . The Committee was established in the Dept. of Labour pursuant to Section 4 of the Indian Inquiry Act (S.B.C. 1950, Ch. 32) to inquire into the status and civil rights of the Native Indians of the province.
