The collection consists of audio disc aircheck recordings of musical performances on radio programs broadcast by CBU (CBC Vancouver) in the early-to-mid-1950s. The programs heard include "Dixieland Jazz", "Jazz Workshop", "Leicester Square", "Nightspot", "Opportunity Knocks", and "Radio Rhythm".

Children's program. Sports fisherman Hal Denton takes a boy fishing and demonstrates the handling of fly fishing equipment, and how to land and clean fish. "The Mischievous One", an Indian story about Indian fishing and a raven, adapted by Joan Pearce and illustrated by Ruth Nickell. Lecture and demonstration with a sea shell collection.

The item consists of a kinescope of the August 5, 1954 CBC coverage of the British Empire and Commonwealth Games, sponsored by Northern Electric. Events reported on include: rowing finals from the Vedder Canal (Prince Phillip in attendance, Canada wins gold medal in the eights); boxing from the Forum; wrestling from Kerrisdale Arena; fencing from Lord Byng High School gymnasium; lawn bowls from New Westminster; track and field from Empire Stadium; and swimming from Empire Pool. Don Horne interview

The item is an audio recording of an interview with Don Home. In it, he discusses his career in radio broadcasting. Mr. Horne took training at the Sprott-Shaw School and worked at radio stations in Victoria and Vancouver before joining the CBC in 1939. His field was technical production, including live radio drama, where he worked with producer Andrew Allan. In 1955, he became a supervisor, and in 1966, technical director. He retired from the CBC in 1974. The interview reflects on many aspects of technical change, the problems of early broadcasting, and the details of wartime broadcasting.
