Item consists of a studio portrait of a Makah (Nuu-chah-nulth) man from Cape Flattery region in what is now known as Washington State.

Coast Salish baby

Item consists of a studio portrait photograph of a baby swaddled on a cradleboard. A different version of this photograph (PN05924-A) identifies the baby as being Coast Salish.

Item consists of a studio portrait of a Coast Salish woman with a basket of potatoes. The caption from the ICAR version of this photograph (PN06116-B) includes the caption "Indian peddler, Victoria in the '70s."

Kwakwaka’wakw Chief from Tsaxis (Fort Rupert)

Item consists of one studio portrait (full-length) of a man believed to be a Kwakwaka’wakw Chief from Tsaxis (Fort Rupert). This identification is based on ICAR PN06140. He is wearing a naval officer's coat and a fur cap. He is holding a presentation staff in his hand to the viewer's left and a dagger is hanging from his wrist on the viewer's right. The negative does not appear to have been manipulated.

Mary, Haida woman

Item consists of a studio portrait of a Haida woman identified as "Indian Mary." She is in a Hudson's Bay Company blanket and has a labret. Alternate photographs indicate that Mary worked as a washerwoman for Hannah Maynard between 1867-1869. Additional information found on verso of PN05311-B.
