Maps show forest reserves and timber licenses. Dates are either stamped or written on the sheets. Maps are white prints unless otherwise noted.

The series consists of 32 volumes of log books of Forest Service launches, created by the Forest Branch between 1922 and 1945 and the Forest Service between 1945 and 1952.

This series consists of five volumes of annual reports of forest fires from the Forest Branch from 1916-1930. Reports record detailed information concerning location, damage, and causes of fires throughout British Columbia. Vol. 1, 1916-1918; vol. 2, 1919-1921; vol. 3, 1922-1924; vol. 4, 1925-1927; vol. 5, 1928-1930.

The series consists of indexes to correspondence files relating to the administration of Crown lands and natural resources. The records were created in 1980 from a computer print-out of various departmental indexes and includes references to files created by various branches of the Dept. of Lands and Works (1872-1908), the Dept. of Lands (1908-1945), the Dept. of Lands and Forests (1945-1962), the Dept. of Lands, Forest and Water Resources (1962-1975) and the Ministry of Lands, Parks and Housing. It provides access to active, microfilmed and obsolete O series files and pre-1918 files.

The records consist of one subject index and two lists which can be used to identify and locate Lands Correspondence files. They are not comprehensive, as they do not cover all the correspondence files created between 1871 and 1986.

The index and lists may be used to locate a file number for a subject area of interest, or to determine the subject of a file when only the number of the file is known.

Note that a listing in these documents does not necessarily mean that the file is held at the BC Archives. Many active files remain with the Crown Land Registry.

The series also consists of registers of leaseholds and licences maintained by the Lands and Works Dept., Victoria and the Timber Inspector, Vancouver; journals of timber lease payments in arrears (1891-1910), and a ledger of timber royalty payments (1908-1913). Volume 7 is oversize.

This series contains various financial documents originating from the Forest Branch trust account. Types of records in this series includes a cash book and accounts ledger in one volume. This volume contains a list of cheques issued on the Forest Branch trust deposit account between 1920 and 1924 and is arranged chronologically. Information captured in these records includes the amount and name of payee. The series also includes a list of debit slips issued on the Forest Branch trust account between 1920 and 1927.

This series contain carbon copy of accounts detailing expenditures to November 30, 1917 and miscellaneous correspondence regarding the forest protection fund and legal interpretations of the Forest Act.

This series includes carbon copies of Orders-in-Council related to forest management and protection.

This series contains the Commissioner of Grazing's file carbon copies of free grazing permits issued in the Vernon and Cariboo Grazing Districts as well as a letter transmitting grazing fees (form) from the Kamloops Grazing District. The boundaries of grazing districts coincide with those of the forest districts of the same name.

This series contains the Chief Forester's correspondence inward and outward.

This series contains copies of letters and telegrams sent to Chief Forester, M.A. Grainger, by the British Columbia Agent General in London, regarding export of British Columbia timber.
