The series consists of records created by the Government Agent in Yale between 1858 and 1914. The records include correspondence inward and outward; records of placer and mineral claims, water records, land records and financial records.

The series includes one file transferred from container 913433-0222 that relates to the Ashton v. Agassiz case. This correspondence can be found in the letterbook in GR-1780.

• William Alfred Galliher was a barrister, judge and Member of Parliament (MP). He had interests in mining development, mineral claims and real estate.

The records include correspondence, legal documents, papers of clients, financial records, account book relating to Galliher's law practice in Nelson and Vancouver. Also, correspondence relating to mining development and mineral claims in Kootenay district with Robert Garvin McLeod (mine owner) and others; re sale of lots in the towns of Nelson, Erie, Three Forks, Comaplix, and Kaslo; re breweries, hotels, grocers, a furniture store, and other businesses in Nelson; relating to land sales of the Columbia and Kootenay Railway Company, and the Similkameen Valley Coal and Development Company; with W.H. Keary, Mayor of New Westminster, re sale of town lots; correspondence with Sir Wilfrid Laurier re Galliher's appointment as a judge for the British Columbia Court of Appeal, 1908-1909.

This series consists of the operational records of the Vernon Forest District, 1913-1924. Records include operational correspondence files of the District Forester relating to forest fires, timber marketing, timber scaling, timber marks, and forest protection generally; forest fire reports, logging inspection reports, patrol diaries, and financial records. Records also include personnel files, including six photographs.

Item consists of one typed address prepared by Goodfellow for the Board of Trade in Greenwood, B.C., on April 23, 1947. The address focuses on the history of the Similkameen and is divided into the following subject sections: First Nations [Indians]; fur; gold; copper; coal; community; and communication. Goodfellow was invited by Mr. Dodd (presumably a member of the Greenwood Board of Trade).

SUMMARY: "The Hornby Collection" is an anthology of plays, documentaries, interviews and selected fiction for radio -- all written, prepared and produced in British Columbia. A documentary by J.J. McColl set in the southern Okanagan.

News item. Plane crash coverage. Aerial shots showing the rugged mountainous area around the Hope-Princeton highway and the Similkameen River. Other footage shows interior and staff at the CFB Comox, Search and Rescue Division. Spokesman explains that an electronic search was undertaken first, but no signal was received, so a visual search was implemented. The crash survivor walked out to highway through deep snow.

The item is a reel of film showing pictograph research with Canadian Conservation Institute.

The records relate to irrigated lands in the southern Okanagan. Earliest entries from 1921 and bother volumes were superseded in 1923 (i.e. no further entries were made after 1923).

The records are arranged numerically, and record the alienation of land from the Crown (by purchase etc.), within the Southern Okanagan Irrigation Project at Oliver (B.C.) Information may include the name of purchaser, dates and numbers of certificates (including Crown Grant), dates and amounts of payments, and reference numbers to correspondence files, and water agreements, There is an alphabetical name index in each volume.

Contains copies of water grants, applications, indentures, expropriations, agreements, letters inward from the Comptroller of Water Rights and Deputy Comptroller 1919-1923; and water rights determinations by the Board of Investigation. Also includes water rights records pertaining to the Grand Forks Water District, Osoyoos Water District and the Okanagan Valley generally.

Notes, essays and clippings on various aspects of British Columbia history including Fort Steele, Jim Buckman, Kootenay and Creston, Wild Horse Creek, the Police, Similkameen and Granite Creek, Cariboo packers and the East Kootenay.

The series consists of family and business records created by the Richter and Tweddle family, created between ca. 1890 and 1962. It includes records relating to the ranch and orchard business, family and general correspondence as well as correspondence of Richter's daughter, Florence Elizabeth Pendleton, regarding the disposal of the Richter Estate, 1959-1962. Among the business records are two account books, annotated cancelled cheques, packing company receipts and statements for fruit and beef, mail order correspondence, brochures, catalogues, etc., and various legal documents. In addition there are 86 black and white photographs of the Richter and Tweddle family along with friends and local scenery. There are also six published books owned by the Richter family.

This series includes registers relating to Crown Grants, Similkameen Division and Osoyoos Division, Yale District (2 vols.) Volume 1 is a register of Crown Grant applications forwarded to Victoria and includes date and disposition of application, name and address of applicant, legal description of land, Crown Grant number. Volume 2 is a register of Crown Grants and includes date of notice, number of grant, legal description of land, payment schedule, disposition and Grown Grant number. The registers are arranged chronologically.

This series contains registers of brands (for both cattle and horses) kept by district recording offices prior to 1914. Registers pertain to brands registered in Cariboo, Similkameen, Okanagan, and Nanaimo districts. In most cases, the registers show the name and address of brand owners, the date and certificate number of the brand registration, and a description of registered brands and markings. Registers pertain to both cattle and horses. Since the districts covered by the registers were not rigidly defined, researchers may have to consult more than one volume to locate specific brands or brand owners. This series may be used in conjunction with GR-0409 and GR-0412 (Registers for Cariboo, Lillooet, and New Westminster) and with GR-1488 (post-1914 brands registers and indexes).

Records relating to the Greenwood Electoral District: includes annotated voters lists and applications for registration (1903-1912; 1920-1945) from Anaconda, Beaverdell, Boundary Falls, Bridesville, Brown Creek, Carmi, Cascade, Christian Valley, Deadwood, Eholt, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway, Mother Lode Mine, Riverside and Rock Creek. These forms show occupation and place of residence and were sworn before various officials: mining recorder, police magistrate, postmaster, notary public, alderman, stipendiary magistrate, MLA, etc. There is supporting documentation, notes, some correspondence and requests to be removed from the voter's list.
