Part of A.H. Maynard collection
The series consists of lantern slides associated with the Maynards. There are 17 boxes (see file list below) that correspond to a lantern slide index, arranged alphabetically by subject. Broadly, the subjects include: portraits; views of Victoria (street scenes, buildings and historic houses, militia, Legislature, etc) and various other locations across British Columbia; Indigenous peoples [note: outdated and offensive terminology is used throughout this collection and is also reflected in the attached finding aid]; ships, shipping, maps, and charts; and slides of printed manuscript material.
The names Fleming and Maynard can be found on the lantern slides and internal BC Archives documentation indicates that Edgar and Harold Fleming mounted at least some of the slides and A.H. Maynard compiled and/or photographed them. Many different photographers are assumed to be responsible for the original photographic images.
