The series consists of 64 film reels of stories or items (including out-takes from items) dealing with various aspects of agriculture in BC, produced for television broadcast by the Horticultural Branch of the B.C. Dept. of Agriculture, between 1959 and 1973. Topics include: cattle, chinchilla raising, diseases of plants, fruit-growing, fruit tree care, grain growing, insects, irrigation, mushroom growing, poultry raising, ranching, vegetable planting and harvesting, etc. The series was originally broadcast by CHBC-TV Kelowna, and later by several other stations as well.

The item consists of a reel of 16 mm film which includes the following items:
A. An interview with Dr. Greenshields [?], director of the federal Agriculture research station at Saskatoon. (00:05:30)
B. At the Saanichton quarantine station, a researcher explains the Department of Agriculture's plant protection policy, which prevents the spread of plant diseases which may be brought in with imported plants. (00:05:30)
C. Dr. Lawrence Burr of Princeton, B.C., talks about methods of halting the blowing dust from old mine tailings that is polluting the town. The old mining town of Copper Mountain. (00:09:00)

The item consists of a reel of 16 mm film which includes the following:
Tomatoes, apples, peaches; growing tomatoes in a greenhouse at Summerland Hot House Tomatoes. Tree nursery: pruning, weed control, sprinklers, application of "centre leader trees"; adjusting the growing branches for easier fruit picking; the benefits of high density orchards; man and woman singing folk songs.

Detecting and controlling pear psylla and cherry fruit fly in gardens and orchards. Manufacture of specially-treated panels at Venture Training Centre, a sheltered workshop in Vernon. Use of panels to traps insects in orchards. In a major Vancouver supermarket, a representative from the federal Dept. of Agriculture's production marketing division examines the marketing situation of Okanagan Valley apples. Display of B.C. Spartan apples. A produce buyer and a housewife are interviewed.

A commentator describes the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Development Act (ARDA). The 'Ksan project: a First Nations village recreated near Hazelton. Campground and park for visitors. Longhouses. Splitting shingles, roofing. Malcolm Joseph [?] carving a totem pole; he describes and shows his work. Street scenes in village. Shop. "Tranquille 1970": A field day at the B.C. Beef Cattle Test Station. A livestock officer outlines the operation of the station. The Hon. Cyril Shelford, Minister of Agriculture, explains the importance of participation in the testing program; better quality beef improves export possibilities. Federal Agricultural representatives demonstrate new test equipment and explain the grading of beef carcasses. At the Kamloops stockyard, Shelford and farmers witness the veterinary examination of pedigree Holstein cattle for export to Korea.
