Emily Carr has been identified as the student standing on the left with her back to the camera, wearing a hat and an apron. An unknown hand has written Emily and an arrow on the face of this postcard photograph. The image shows an art class given by either Julius Olsson or Algernon Talmage at the Harbour Studios, St. Ives. Art students Will Ashton and Hilda Fearon to Carr's left. Carr was in St. Ives 1901-1902.
Herbert Lanyon was a professional photographer resident in St Ives.
