The scrips are signed on behalf of the Chief Commissioner or Surveyor General, are numbered, dated and made out to a person. They also include provisions to transfer the scrip on the back of the form and notes about the lots exchanged for the scrip. Many of the scrips are made out to John Thorne who may have acted as an agent, and many are made out for Municipal Councils. The file also includes earlier forms of claim, including purchases and requests via correspondence.
