Thie series consists of an extensive collection of stock shots, depicting a wide range of B.C. Forest Service and Ministry of Forests activities and related subjects. Compiled from footage shot for a variety of purposes, the material was retained for potential use as stock footage in BC Forest Service and Ministry of Forests film productions and TV spots. Some footage was also loaned out for TV news use.

This series contains miscellaneous papers of Project 87. This project was established in 1981 to do research in preparation for the 75th anniversary of the Forest Service in 1987 and to facilitate transfer of archival records to the Provincial Archives. This series consists of papers and reports prepared, coordinated, or collected by the project. Contents are: (1) Working Paper No. 7, Historical headquarters staff and organizational tables, 1888-1979. (2) Catalogue of Original Timber Leases, 1870-1906, prepared by A. Lazenby. (3) Early history of the B.C. Forest Service, by D. Climenhaga. (4) Forest protection a government responsibility, a draft by Stephen Gray. (5) Protection as conservation - Safeguarding B.C.'s forests from fire, 1874-1921, by John Parmenter.

This series contains circular letters from District Forester to field staff pertaining to forest protection, forest management, etc. It includes some circular letters from the Chief Forester to District Foresters.

Stock shots

This series contains proceedings of the Forest Protection Officers' meetings held at Victoria: 11-13 December, 1962; 24-26 November, 1964 and 6-8 December 1966; Kamloops: 9-11 January 1968; and Victoria: 26-28 February, 1969; 8-10 December, 1970; 28-30 November, 1972 and 3-5 December, 1974. The purpose of these meetings was to improve techniques of the prevention and suppression of forest fires.

Papers relating to forestry, the Forest Service, Boulton's antiquarian interest and his private museum collection. Includes reports done for the School of Forestry of the University of New Brunswick (1943), a report on forest protection (1962), minutes of the 1969 meeting of the Association of BC Foresters, a poem on the BC Forest Service entitled "Progress...", records of timber sales, a 1931 memorandum of the Chief Forester on the issuance of pencils, and a book in Chinese.

This series consists of assorted records from the Forest Service Engineering Division. Records include a reference file on pumps 1917-1927, and Supervision files on motor-cars, launches and general mechanical equipment, 1917-1962. Technical information on wind powered generators and wood-gas producer motor vehicle engines.

This series contains miscellaneous material relating to forest fires and forest protection. Records consist of the fire-control equipment handbook (1946) and the radio handbook (1939) of the United States Forest Service. These manuals and the portable radio and fire-fighting gear were widely used by the B.C. Forest Service. Includes fire fighters' manuals (5 volumes, 1918-1942) prepared by the Western Forestry and Conservation Association and a catalog of portable fire fighting pumpers (1939).

This series contains records of the Public Education and Information Division. It includes a manual regarding procedures for highway sign crew to paint and maintain forest protection highway signs.
