A group of ten oral history interviews recorded in the summer of 1977 by four summer students working as tour guides on the BCPM's Museum Train. The students undertook various projects (i.e., oral history, photography, etc.) involving the communities visited by the Museum Train, railroad and steamship history, and other topics.

SUPPLIED TITLE OF TAPE(S): Harbour and railway work in Saskatchewan and B.C., 1933-1977 PERIOD COVERED: 1933-1977 RECORDED: Kamloops (B.C.), 1977-08-08 SUMMARY: J.W. Smith discusses his varied careers from 1933 as oiler and fireman on the "Princess Louise", the tug "Norvan", the Vancouver Harbour Board's Switcher 060, and others. His dialogue is interspersed with childhood memories of his father, who was a CN engineer in Saskatchewan. He comments on his brother Frank Smith, who is currently (1977) engineer on the Royal Hudson 2860.
