History
The Joint Reserve Commission was established in 1875 by the governments of Canada and British Columbia to fix boundaries of Indian reserves in British Columbia. Of the three members of the committee, one was appointed by the federal government, one by the provincial government, and a third selected jointly by the two levels of government. The Joint Reserve Commission was restructured in 1878, leaving only one commissioner.
