Biographical history

In 1901, the British Columbia government established a Supreme Court registry at Vernon, in the Cariboo Judicial District, by Order-in-Council #0084-1901, (March 6, 1901) and effective April 1, 1901.

Currently (to March 31, 2016) the Vernon Registry of the Supreme Court continues as an active registry.

Scope and content

The series consists of judgments issued by the Supreme Court in Vernon between 1887 and 1934. Microfilmed records are covered by indexes in containers of original paper records. The records consist of judgments on a variety of matters, including libel, divorce, foreclosures, debtors and creditors, and other civil matters. Records are arranged in rough chronological order.

Records in containers 831041-0002, 831041-0003, and 831041-0004 were transferred from the Vernon court registry in January 2016.
