SUPPLIED TITLE OF TAPE(S): Pioneer Profiles project : Lynn Stringer RECORDED: [location unknown], 1985-07-10 SUMMARY: Lynn Stringer was born Evelynn Weatherall on April 12, 1928 in Calgary. Lived in Calgary until age 18 when she moved to Victoria, B.C. Married Ted Henson in 1949. Henson started Vancouver Island Helic;opters in 1954 and was killed in a helicopter accident in 1957. Lynn took over and ran the company until 1963 when her second husband Alf Stringer (married 1959) assumed the position of general manage;r. The Stringers controlled VIH until late 1985. TRACK 1: Discusses early life, setting up Vancouver Island Helicopters, and continuing on with operations after the death of Ted Henson, her first husb;and. Meeting and marrying Alf Stringer. TRACK 2: Discusses the operations and problems of early helicopter companies (1950s). Discusses the treatment of women in the helicopter business.;
