General note

THE MANUFACTURE OF 'ELK' PORTLAND CEMENT was filmed by Bryan Brabant, an executive of the British Columbia Cement Company. In 1965, footage was removed from the original edited picture roll to create a sound film called THE PRIME INGREDIENT (see AAAA2428). F1981:17/040.01 is the cannibalized original of the first film, including its title and inter-title frames, as well as some other footage that was not required for the second film.
