Administrative history
The Masters and Chief Engineers Association of the British Columbia Ferries was incorporated as BC Society 9053 on December 29th, 1970. The object of the society was to represent the Masters and Chief Engineers of the British Columbia Ferries in their relationships with management with respect to salaries, working conditions, leave, and other similar matters, and to further the professional well-being of its members. By 1972 the BCGEU had begun to provide these services on behalf of unionized employees and the association focused on financial assistance for its members and planning social events. The last annual meeting was held in May 1981 where the members voted to wind up the association and disperse its assets among the members. By 1982 the secretary-treasurer completed this task.
