History

Margaret Jane Crawford was born on February 29, 1875 in Cobden, Ontario. She married photographer Gustave A. Maves in 1905 and moved with him to Victoria, BC in February 1919. She was a skilled artist and colorist who applied her talents to many of his photographs, some of which were credited and copyrighted to her. She died on May 1, 1944 and was cremated at the Royal Oak Crematorium in Saanich.
