Mission School District fonds

The fonds consists of records kept by the trustees of Mission School District as required by the Public Schools Act. The fonds also includes records created by several schools in the district prior to 1946. The records includes a school trustees' minute book (1898-1906), an account book for Mission City School (1885-1905) and student attendance registers created by schools in Cardinell (1926-1929), Cedar Valley (1940-1944), Hatzic (1911-1920), Silverdale (1910-1931), Silverhill (1928-1939), and Stave Falls (1916-1926).

The series consists of registers of pupils for several public schools: Cardinell, 1926-1929; Cedar Valley, 1940-1944; Hatzic, 1911-1920 (with gaps); Silverdale, 1910-1931; Silverhill, 1928-1939 and Stave Falls, 1916-1926.

In 1945, these schools were consolidated to form School District 34 (Abbotsford-Mission) and in 1947 they became part of School District 75 (Mission).

Documentary. Recreates the revival of change-ringing of the bells at Vancouver's Holy Rosary Cathedral, after a five-year hiatus. Shows the training of bell-ringers and the ringing-in of the New Year. The bells of Westminster Abbey in Mission City are also heard. Members of the Vancouver Society of Change Ringers are featured. Winner of a Canadian Film Award in the amateur category (1961).
