The item is a reel of amateur film made by Winstock A. Shilvock, who worked in advertising for Home Oil Distributors in the 1930's and also worked as Assistant Manager of the Pacific National Exhibition from 1939-1940. The reel contains miscellaneous footage: the opening of Vancouver International Airport (including RCMP musical ride); Home Oil gas stations; Home Gas Optimists on tour in Cariboo and in Victoria; race driver "Cannonball" Parker; logging trucks; Exhibition Park, including construction of Exhibition Gardens.

Public access. Song, "Mon beau sapin". Nicole Cadorette introduces the folk dance troupe "Les Cornouillers", who perform three dances. Michel Dumont sings "Tu reviens de loin" and "Les Moustache". Mrs. Berthe de Tremaudan reads three poems. University of Victoria student Elizabeth Zunti sings "Quel est cette odeur agreable". Pierre McLean (bassoon) and Richard Lambert (clarinet) play "Fille a deux voix", a Bach Prelude. Albina Chatton and her students form L'ecole Lansdowne sing "D'ou viens-tu bergere". Monique Fortier sings three songs by Frank Martin. Claudette Richard recites a monologue to the Child Jesus. Regine Berube, president of "Le club Canadien-francais", offers Christmas greetings to all, and reminds the audience that the club was founded in 1941.

The program includes folk dancing by "Les Cornouillers" (directed by Marie-France Berube) and musical performances by Ben Gogish (harpsichord), Benoit Bouchard (saxophone), and the choral group Les Decibels.

The musical group "Syncope", comprising seven musicians from Hull, Quebec, perform at the invitation of Le Club Canadien-francais.

The item consists of a film print of unedited footage from 1955. It shows BC Electric's celebrations marking completion of the conversion from streetcars to trolley buses in Vancouver. Footage shows final streetcar runs from downtown Vancouver to the PNE, with special cars for longtime local residents, crowd entering PNE grounds, ceremonies inside PNE Exhibition Gardens, including BC Electric (male) choir, BCE President Dal Grauer, Vancouver Mayor Fred Hume, speeches, presentations and communal singing, etc.
