History

David Henry Norcross was born on July 1, 1909, on a homestead near Granite Siding (also known as Granite), near Nelson, BC. Norcross attended school in Granite Siding and later in Nelson. At the age of 16, Norcross began his career in mining; he worked at 50 mines throughout British Columbia and was involved in various aspects of mining, including leasing, owner-operating, assaying, prospecting, developing, and working as a mine and mill superintendent.

D.H. Norcross died on August 27, 1980 in an accident while exploring the site of Maud S. mine, a gold mine near Castlegar, BC.
