This series consists of indexes, lists and oaths of office of Justices of the Peace, Stipendiary Magistrates, Police Magistrates, Police Constables, Commissioners, Coroners, and other government officials from 1874-1923.

The item is a commission appointing several British Columbia judges as oath-takers.

The series consists of two volumes of records created by the Provincial Registrar between 1900 and 1942. The volumes contain record of commissions issued under the provisions of the Oaths Act to notaries public, coroners, justices of the peace, stipendiary and police magistrates, Queen's Counsels, and ministers of the crown.

Registrar's record books for civil and criminal proceedings in both County and Supreme courts. Volume 1 is indexed, lists 15 constables active in 1911 for South East Kootenay Police District, gives a newspaper clipping describing the naturalization procedure and contains the following oaths: the King's Oath or Chicken Oath (used by Chinese), the Oath of Interpreter, Affirmation, Oath of Foreman in Civil Jury trials, Oath of Jurors, Oath of Stenographer, Japanese Oath, and the witnesses' oath in French and English. Volume 2 lists 14 constables active in 1916 in the South East Kootenay Police District and the oaths.

Oath of allegiance and oaths of office (Judge of the County Court of the County of Yale and local Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia) for McLeod Munro Colquhoun, sworn before the Chief Justice on 2 February 1943 sent with a covering letter to the Penticton Registry from Vancouver.

The series consists of Commissions appointing Superior Court judges as Commissioners per Dedimus potestatem, i.e. authorized to administer Oaths of Allegiance and other oaths. In 1943 commissions were granted to the Hon. Gordon McGregor Sloan, the Hon. Cornelius H. O'Halloran, the Hon. Sidney Alexander Smith, the Hon. James Moses Coady and the Hon. Henry Irvine Bird for British Columbia. In 1947 commissions were granted to the Hon. Arthur Douglas Macfarlane, the Hon. John Owen Wilson and the Hon. Andrew Miller Harper for British Columbia. In 1954 commissions were granted to the Hon. Norman William Whittaker, the Hon. Herbert Spencer Wood, the Hon. John Valentine Clyne, and the Hon. Herbert William Davey for British Columbia. In 1964 commissions were granted to the Hon. Sherwood Lett, the Hon. Arthur Edward Lord and the Hon. Norman William Whittaker for the Yukon Territory. The collection includes some administrative correspondence regarding the documents.

This series consists of oaths of judges of the County Court of New Westminster: G.W.B. Fraser, Frank Wilson (a local Judge of Supreme Court), L.M. McDonald, C.M. Hyde, W.S. Selbie (County Court judge and local judge of Supreme Court).
