A Tsimshian man speaks about this particular bird and the associated legend in which the bird calls to make the local berries ripe. Other bird calls are heard, followed by the sounds of a fishing trip on the Yakoun River. TRACK 2: Continuation of the fishing trip on the Yakoun River. Imbert Orchard speaks with l;ocal First Nations people about the fishing grounds, hereditary fishing rights, and fish processing. Assorted bird calls are heard, including Canada geese and a Great Blue Heron.

RECORDED: Skidegate Landing (B.C.), [196-] SUMMARY: TRACK 1: This tape captures the sounds heard at a herring pond located at Skidegate Landing, Queen Charlotte Islands. Imbert Orchard questions fishermen about the herring pond; the uses and processing of the fish; halibut fishing; and the location of an old dogfish refinery. This tape also has the sounds of the wind in the trees along the east coast, and the roar of the waves in a south-east wind. [TRACK 2: blank.]
