History

Frank Ogden (1920 - 2013) was a broadcaster, author and futurist who was based in Vancouver. Frank Ogden, known in his later years as Dr. Tomorrow, had a varied career. Born in Toronto, at various times he worked as a pilot, sold real estate, managed Montreal radio station CKGM, and taught at the Ontario College of Art. From 1961 to 1968 he worked as a therapist in the LSD treatment program at the Hollywood Hospital in New Westminster, although he had no formal training in therapy. In his later years he became famous for his prognostications about the future uses of technology, broadcasting and monitoring the Internet from a houseboat in Coal Harbour. Frank envisioned such concepts as e-books. cybersex, and the Internet long before they became a reality. He also published "The Last Book You'll Ever Read and other lessons from the future" in 1993. The book featured an enclosed CD-ROM. He died in a senior's residence in Maple Ridge at the age of 92, having seen many of his predictions come true. He was predeceased by his wife Carol Baker, and survived by a son Ted and daughter Lodei. He was remembered in his obituary as a man who had "more ideas in a weekend than most people have in a lifetime".
