Scope and content
Edwards was a prolific writer and public advocate for the care and preservation of Canada’s natural environment. He wrote a large volume of articles for the popular press on this topic. Similarly, he also reviewed publications and exhibits, gave numerous public lectures, and continually supported and participated in public programs advocating the experience and protection of Canada’s natural spaces. Edwards’ advocacy was most often performed as a representative of Parks Canada and as a parks officer for the various provincial parks programs. He was also active in his advocacy role as a director for the BC Museum. Common topics for his public lectures and articles include conservatrion, public policy and the environement, and local ornithology. Edwards often kept handwritten notes for his public lectures. He stored these in binders interfiled with his publications for the popular media and his parks and museums professional correspondence. Edwards kept his publications in the form of news clippings and original typed and annotated drafts. The files are in general chronological order without a subject index.
