Scope and content

A studio portrait taken at a photographic studio attributed to Mrs. R. Maynards Photographic Gallery, part of a larger portfolio of individual and group studio portraits of Maynard clientele. The portrait (full-length) consists of an unidentified individual (1 adult) standing. It is a collodion glass plate negative (6.5 x 8.5 inches). The studio flooring (geometrical pattern tiling, partial carpet) and studio accessories including partially hidden [furniture] and plain backdrop are visible. This image depicts a wider view of the portrait studio. The both side edges of the scenic backdrop are visible revealing a view to the back of the room with a open door in the studio on one side and curtain at the window at the other. This negative has been manipulated (e.g. there are touch-ups around the face of the sitter).
