Series consists of criminal Assize Court calendars created between 1919-1961 by the Prince Rupert Supreme Court. Under the Assize System, hearings/trials are scheduled to be heard during a 1 or 2 week sitting of the court. Records also include some information and correspondence from the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, Judicial Statistics Branch.

Retrieve records using microfilm. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 53200-20.

The item is a photocopy of "My Life Story" by Belle Delia Watt of Calgary, a machine operator and real estate agent. It is an account of Watt's family and early days in Terrace, along with brief reminiscences of Port Essington and Prince Rupert.

The files, opened in 1914-1915, contain material from 1904 to 1936. The files are arranged in file number order from 366/14 to 25/15. The files relate to land around Prince Rupert and the northwest coast of BC.

Alphabetical register (1 volume) of mechanics' liens showing date of registration, number (1-ca. 600), name of person against whom the lien is claimed and for whom the work was done, description of the land or goods charged, 1907-1966. There is also an index volume "commencing Jan 1,1967-" which shows the registration number (ca. 600-700), the claimant's name in black ink and the property owner's name in red ink. There are registration forms numbered 689-1157 (1967-1977).

Special Constable's Oath and Magistrate's Certificate appointing Special Constables under the Railway Act (1919). See Sec. 453, Chap 170, RSC 1927, 1934-1960. Volume consists of signed oaths and certificates pasted into an index volume. They give name of Stipendiary Magistrate; name of Special Constable; name of Railroad; date; signature; and location.

Appraisal reports of reverted government lands

The series consists of records created by the Department of Lands in 1930. It contains a volume of Coast Land Districts, Range 4 and Range 5 appraisal reports of reverted government lands within Tps. 2-4, Range 4 and Tps. 10-13, 19,20, Range 5. The reports are arranged numerically within each land district. Information may include assessment district, land registry office, legal description, date of forfeiture, plan number, acreage, suitability, improvements, soil, water supply, irrigation or dyking, accessibility, nearest settlement or Post Office, nearest school, topography, and assessed and appraised value. The report usually includes a coloured sketch map of the property. The two sections are indexed by report numbers to the legal land description.

[Skeena and Queen Charlottes]

Amateur film. Shot by CBC Vancouver radio producer Imbert Orchard during a visit to the Queen Charlotte Islands and the Skeena region, the footage includes views of: a coastal community on the Queen Charlottes [Masset or Queen Charlotte City]; Prince Rupert harbour; a fish cannery interior; Port Essington (before it burned down the second time); and views on the Skeena River, including Cedarvale, an Indian village (Kitseguecla?), and Hazelton.

Footage. A large column of soldiers, led by a pipe band, parades through Prince Rupert to the courthouse. Travelling shots of the harbour and waterfront. At Prince Rupert dockyard, the fishing boats "Rupert 44" and "Rupert 34" are prepared and launched. The gillnet fishing fleet is shown leaving the harbour, with a larger boat or tug towing a long string of smaller craft. Views of Claxton cannery and village, including buildings, docks, and mending of nets. Gillnetting scenes, plus unloading and weighing of catch. Fishing boats at dock, Prince Rupert. The fishing boat "Departure Bay" approaches, and crew unloads catch into conveyor at cannery. Interior footage of cannery operations, including the canning line, workers (including many women) butchering and cleaning salmon, filling the cans, labelling and boxing of cans, etc. A group of Japanese-Canadian adults is shown waiting at the dock, and engaged in a snowball fight. Views of a large coastal community (unidentified) from a ship or dock. Townspeople and children taking part in holiday sporting events, footraces, etc.
