Name of creator
The Nelson Forest District was created in 1913. In 1925 the Vernon, Nelson and Cranbrook Forest Districts were merged into the Southern Interior Forest District, based in Nelson. The Southern Interior Forest District was renamed the Nelson Forest District in 1933, but no changes were made to the districts boundaries. In 1978 this area was renamed the Nelson Forest Region, divided into several smaller districts. This may have included a new, smaller Nelson Forest District after 1978.
